The film discover forgotten paintings of one of the most characteristic and mysterious American painters of the twentieth century. George Tooker managed to show the alienation and the anxiety that people felt during the Cold War. His paintings resonate with modern fears, through their ideas and forms, he was an inspiration for such artists as Kubrick or Hitchcock and today he is being discovered again by some of the most important modern artists including Guillermo Del Toro or Todd Haynes.
